This exhibition is held at the "Old Convent" in Broome and depicts the life and work of the Sisters in the Kimberley and the strong relationships that have been formed with the aboriginals since 1907.
Through photographs, artefacts, art, storyboards and audio visual you will be given the opportunity to experience the positive impact the Sisters have had on the Kimberley people.
There is also a huge photographic collection that is on a computer database that you will have access to.

The "Old Convent" building is a fitting venue for this exhibition and you will see a real "Broomestyle" building with interesting architecture.The exhibition is on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays from 10am to 2pm.

STAIRCASE TO THE MOON
Date: March to October 2008

From March till October each year you can witness a breathtaking natural phenomenon known as the Staircase to the Moon. This occurrence is caused by the rising of a full moon reflecting off the exposed mudflats at extremely low tide, creating the beautiful optical illusion of stairs reaching to the moon. This event occurs along the coastline of Roebuck Bay with viewing points at The Mangrove Resort Hotel, Town Beach and Broome Golf Club. Local markets held at Town Beach also compliment this event on dates indicated where you can sample local fare, purchase local art and craft and be amused by local entertainers. Market dates are subject to change.

Broome’s award winning Willie Creek Pearls have announced they will raise $25,000 to furnish the new Kyle Andrews Foundation House being built in Roebuck Estate.

Willie Creek Pearls have donated $10,000 in pearl jewellery for the main prizes and are seeking the communities support and is encouraging locals to let visitors to their business know about the raffle, which will run for the next three months.

“Ship of Dreams” a musical play about the children of Broome by Mary Durack. This is a semi professional production incorporating the talents of many Broome professional actors and musicians and the children of Broome.

Special Gala Performance celebrating the 100 year anniversary of St Mary’s College is on the Friday 25th July. This will be a special night where we will honour the people who have been part of the “Ship of Dreams” since it was first performed 40 years ago.

SECOND CHANCES EXHIBITION

Chelonia is holding an exhibition and sale of sea turtle photographs reproduced on canvas on Monday 4th August, from 6pm - 8pm, at Café Carlotta, Jones Place, Old Broome. There will be a licenced bar and complimentary finger food.

All photographs have been taken by Lesley Baird and are of sea turtle patients which have passed through the Chelonia rehabilitation facility. Proceeds to Chelonia to help save endangered sea turtles and other local bird and reptile wildlife.

“RELATIONSHIPS EXHIBITION" – The Sisters of Saint John of God in the Kimberley
Date: 25th March - 23rd October 2008

Venue: “Old Convent” Cnr Barker & Weld Streets, Broome

This exhibition is held at the "Old Convent" in Broome and depicts the life and work of the Sisters in the Kimberley and the strong relationships that have been formed with the aboriginals since 1907.
Through photographs, artefacts, art, storyboards and audio visual you will be given the opportunity to experience the positive impact the Sisters have had on the Kimberley people.
There is also a huge photographic collection that is on a computer database that you will have access to.

The "Old Convent" building is a fitting venue for this exhibition and you will see a real "Broomestyle" building with interesting architecture.The exhibition is on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays from 10am to 2pm.

STAIRCASE TO THE MOON - SEPTEMBER
Date: 16th to 18th 2008

Venue: Town Beach or The Mangrove Resort Hotel

This natural phenomenon is caused by the rising of a full moon reflecting off the exposed mudflats in Roebuck Bay at extremely low tide, to create a beautiful optical illusion of a staircase reaching to the moon. Occurs March through to October.

You can support the 17 Western Australians who are projected to be diagnosed with a form of leukaemia every week by registering to host a lunch with friends, colleagues or family and raising funds.
