Broome Historical Museum is housed in a building that was erected in the late 1890’s and became the general store for Newman Goldstein & Co. The store was stocked with all the requirements for Newman Goldstein & Co’s fleet of 22 luggers, 2 schooners and a steam launch. The store was also an important mercantile business victualling and purchasing pearlshell and pearls from other fleets. The company at this time also owned the Roebuck Bay Hotel.
